Everybody was fine using non-e2ee messaging for like 2 decades before whatsapp and competitors implemented it.
So why is it now so important, when since the early 90s everyone was totally happy to communicate without it?

- fragmede 3y agoOther people listening in on private conversations hasn't been "fine" since the the first private conversation. It wasn't okay in the 90's and it isn't okay now. More people are aware now so more people are asking about it, which is making it seem more important, but it's always been important. We don't use telnet anymore, we use SSH, and for good reason. That people that have never heard of ssh have the same demands for their communications shouldn't surprise you.
