It's worth a link to the lyrics in question: https://www.harley.com/harley-quotes/unix-sysadmin.html https://www.harley.com/harley-quotes/unix-sysadmin.html - And any Gilbert and Sullivan fan can sing you the tune.
I remember reading the lyrics on a techie humor site back in the day, along with other filk parodies like "Write in C" and "Dr Seuss Explains Why Computers Crash"; I would have been sure it was this one - http://www.poppyfields.net/filks/fullindex.html http://www.poppyfields.net/filks/fullindex.html - because the styling looks so familiar, but it's not in that collection. Such songs were full of references that I, as a neophyte techie, had fun understanding, and more that I didn't, providing ample lines in inquiry.
The early internet was a full of such bits; Techie was of course among the most popular subcultures, but I saw all sorts of groups documenting their histories in little sites like that. I cringe at the modern use of "Fandom", which has proven a terrible steward. Long live the personal project website!
