What's wrong with calories from fat?
- Paul-Craft 3y agoNothing per se. It's just that fat has 9 calories per gram, so 1250 calories from fat is 138 grams of fat. It's also mostly saturated fat, which is pretty bad for the heart, not to mention that it's nearly half the total daily caloric requirement for an average man.
- im3w1l 3y agoWell from my understanding, if you have an active lifestyle, then your body needs carbs to replenish glycogen stores. And proteins to repair and grow muscles. Fats aren't needed for anything in particular, except in small amounts. But 2040 kCal is so much that the body will turn the energy into fat even if it didn't start out as fat.
- inconceivable 3y agoyour body doesn't need any carbs. carbs are cheap and easy and tasty and plentiful but not required at all. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gluconeogenesis https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gluconeogenesis also, the US government says you should eat a shitload of it, so you can probably just assume it's terrible for you.

- inconceivable 3y agoyeah, so? there are plenty of fat adapted athletes. and 'active' people don't come anywhere close to the needs of a real athlete.
- stjohnswarts 3y agoFats aren't needed in the human body? That's just flat out wrong. Carbs are what aren't needed. The body can create whatever sugars it needs from fat and protein.
- bell-cot 3y agoIf you are some combination of older, smaller, less-healthy, and unaccustomed to eating a meal containing that quantity of fat...then your digestive system may be very unhappy, and let you know it.
