I'm surprised to see 3d v-cache on mobile. I would have thought the power efficiency hit would be too large to justify on mobile. Traditionally AMD has not even been using chiplets on mobile, and the reason cited has always been power dissipation.
- brucethemoose2 3y agoHeh, idle power efficiency is out the window here. These are desktop chips stuffed into 16" laptops. They are basically for plugged in use with a UPS in between outlets. That being said, 3D cache on, say, Phoenix silicon would be really cool. The IGP desperately needs it, and the stacked cache might save power since the energy/bit is still lower than RAM.
