Why is replication of material production the focus when the material ostensibly exists and can just be tested for superconducting properties?

Why is replication of material production the focus when the material ostensibly exists and can just be tested for superconducting properties?
- p_l 3y agoBecause this ensures repeatability of the material, that it wasn't some accidental dopant, that the samples weren't doctored, etc. Essentially, a clean room check on all claims.
- brucethemoose2 3y agoIf any chunk of material can be shipped around and shown to be a room temperature superconductor at independent labs, that would be a revolution. Then they can worry about reproduction, as every materials science lab on the planet would be trying to reproduce it at that point.
- HDThoreaun 3y agoWhy do we need evidence of repeatability? At this point just evidence that a rtp superconductor exists, even if we can't create anymore of it, would be a nobel.
- p_l 3y agoQuite obviously, given the patent on the material, the inventors want to commercialize it.
