This is a more complicated problem than it seems because even determining the remaining battery percentage is non-trivial with lithium-ion batteries. Apple has an entire team dedicated to this. Predicting the remaining range is another step of complexity. I'm not saying it can't be done, but they should definitely sandbag the estimate. Some of the features using energy when parked, like sentry mode and cabin temperature maintenance, probably consume power and add to customer frustration as well.
