I don’t believe any organization of more than a single person could keep a secret as big as physical samples of alien spacecraft or bodies secret for more than a few minutes, let alone decades.

Aliens exist, and either in defiance of known physics they have FTL, or take inconceivably long and one-way voyages... only to crash on our particular rock. Always in the US for some reason, always without leaving a single piece of evidence. They must be both monstrously advanced, and comically inept at the same time. OR There are more mundane explanations for the alleged "sightings" and so on, ranging from human error, machine error, to "secret military programs like B-21, NGAD, and some insane cutting-edge drones." Just like a lot of UFO sightings turned out to be the US' early attempts to develop stealth craft, I suspect a lot of present sightings will turn out to be the aforementioned projects. "Aliens" makes a perfect smokescreen for a government which would love to be able to dismiss the odd sighting of a black program like a next generation drone or stealth bomber. As a bonus that also explains the Grusch theater, this is an almost laughably inexpensive thing to do, potentially to deflect attention from some very expensive projects.
