Chatbot is fine as a search alternative, and there's stuff I find more convenient asking chatgpt than looking up and synthesizing myself to figure out the answer. Chat is the worst possible interface to a fixed menu system, which is the only way it gets used in public facing customer service. If a company had an optional "faq chatbot" you could talk to, nobody would complain. It's using it to block human interaction while pretending to be able to help that infuriates people.
