- sva_ 3y agoI think a Romanée-Conti Grand Cru will set you back around $20k. A 1945 vintage sold for something like $550k iirc.
- ndsipa_pomu 3y agoFor some reason, rum doesn't have nearly as much snobbery around it compared to drinks like wine, whisky or even sake. Maybe it's because it was associated with sailors and the mass production when sugar plantations become common.
- kulahan 3y agoHuh. I had no idea there was a lot of snobbery around sake, but I guess it's one of the few alcohols that aren't super commonly consumed in the US.
- TheRealPomax 3y ago$7 to $10k for a bottle is a lot of money, and anything more expensive than that is even more expensive than "a lot of money". However, this isn't 7-10k for a bottle of rum. It's 7-10k for a piece of history. As an antique, 7-10k not strange in any way, but as a bottle of rum, put in the same category as a bottle of wine, it'd be absolute nonsense.
