Tbh, I had Design Thinking down as a buzzword and never really engaged with it or even knew what it really was. Then someone recently suggested using DT to revamp the UI in a place where most of us weren't quite happy about the current solution. We got some pretty good ideas after three sessions stretched out over a few days, and several of those ideas have already made it into production, with great feedback so far. So I actually had to revise my opinion - my n=1 experience was that for a narrow, well-defined problem like "Create a UI for this process", and if you count something as small getting someone senior to give up strongly held convictions as a success, then I'd say it actually worked pretty well.
