Unsurprising that Thames Water wants more money considering their financial situation.
The state of their infrastructure is wretched. The fact they saved themself from forced nationalization is depressing as well.
It’s pretty nakedly obvious that they’re run poorly by design.
- lol768 3y agoWater privatisation has been a complete failure. Water isn't a commodity, and private equity has no business being involved in water companies. We all have Thatcher to thank for paying an extra 350% since privatisation. Thames Water just illustrates how poorly this can play out.
- hellotomyrars 3y agoI agree. A natural monopoly doesn’t make sense to be private in any circumstance. Thames Water is like the poster child for people who say anything government run is inherently bad because only the free market can optimize it and make it profitable. Except for the part where it’s private.
