Yes. It's really a shame how useless their status page usually is - it's still all green at the moment.
- murat124 3y agoThat has become industry standard. Status pages are never "live".
- ochronus 3y agoSadly, it's true for many products, but thankfully not all. How I interpret lagging status pages (I mean, this has been going on for 20+ minutes now) is that they are not capable of detecting outages, which really erodes my trust, especially in such a crucial tool. (I know that they do detect it in reality, I'm just stubborn :P)
- ochronus 3y agoI'm OK if e.g. Spotify is down, and it's unclear what to expect, but from a crucial business communication tool, no updates for 30 minutes is unacceptable :/
- kozhevnikov 3y agoReddit status page used to include graphs for errors and post/comment backlogs. Even if the overall status was not updated from green, it was clear that we're at the beginning of an incident based on spikes. It was too easy and useful, so of course they were removed.
- aniforprez 3y agoThey removed all that? It was all visible until this year. Dammit they really are circling the toilet trying to make money...
- benplumley 3y agoThey don't have to worry about SLAs if they just never acknowledge that they had any downtime!
- yreg 3y agoYou have commented this at least 22 minutes after they have reported the outage.
- KptMarchewa 3y agoExpecting them to update status page before someone notices and posts on HN might be too high of a bar.
- pictur 3y agoI'm not sure you understand what the status page is used for.
- tjbiddle 3y agoIf it's done properly, it shouldn't need to be manually updated.
- throwawaymobule 3y agoI'm sure there's failure modes that won't get caught automatically and need manual updates. I'd agree that 'properly' doing a status page would include something out of band attempting to use the service and checking if it worked. No idea if anyone does that.
