In the context of building a new rocket system?
Allegedly the development of the F35 cost about $35 billion
according to one 2020 study.
(Which I think was estimated at the start to about $400 million
in non-inflation adjusted dollars)
If I look at it through that frame, spending $1.1B on developing
a rocket seems ok (I Know they are not done so the cost will keep rising)
- roelschroeven 3y agoTo be precise, this is not about the development of a rocket: Starliner will launch on an existing rocket, the Atlas V. This is about developing and building Starliner spacecraft, putting them on Atlas V rockets, and after successful acceptance tests putting people in them to fly them to and from the ISS.
