The pricing is still way too much for it to be competitive with Teslas offerings imo. Weird move by GM though, they made it look like the bolt was completely an abandoned idea....
- beardicus 3y agoisn't the bolt $30k whereas the cheapest tesla is $50k? seems significant.
- chokolad 3y ago> isn't the bolt $30k whereas the cheapest tesla is $50k? seems significant. Cheapest tesla is around $38K right now.
- avgDev 3y agoAfter tax credit around $33k absolutely insane. If it had ultrasonic parking sensors I think I would bite.
- ihattendorf 3y agoMissing Rear Cross Traffic Alert is unfortunate as well as CarPlay/Android Auto.
- mrguyorama 3y agoI'm still not going to buy a car from a company that thinks it's okay to disable the radar sensor I've already paid for and make my car worse AFTER YEARS OF OWNING IT. I'm not going to buy a car that I don't actually own, what the fuck is the point of that?
- brianwawok 3y agoEnjoy your Honda!!!
- thebruce87m 3y agoI’ve got a Model Y without parking sensors and I agree, it’s insane. Can’t bring myself to trust the vision replacement, and with the placement of the cameras it will never be able to perform the same. I love the car. Lots going for it but the lack of USS is a big one for me. That, and the interior seems to rattle quite a bit, but this is my first electric so maybe that’s what you hear on bumpy roads without an engine to drown it out.
- lucisferre 3y agoHey now, let's not let facts get in the way of Teslastaning
- erulabs 3y agoOr in the way of whatever the opposite of that term is. After credits the cheapest Tesla is right around 35k.
- tapoxi 3y agoAnd the Bolt is $19k after credits...
- cosmik-debris50 3y ago[dead]
- erulabs 3y agoThat wasn’t the issue. The issue was the price of the cheapest Tesla being worth it. I see model 3s everywhere, Bolts rarely.
- Tagbert 3y agoBolt starts at $26k
- cogman10 3y agoUnder $30k? That doesn't seem way too expensive, especially if they keep the range.
- tapoxi 3y agoI mean it's $26,500 before the tax credit. Which Teslas are that cheap? The Model 3 starts at $40,000.
- xattt 3y agoThe Bolt seems to be a great (second) city-runaround car. I hope they recognized the potential of this market as a wedge into peoples’ homes.
- CameronNemo 3y agoSome people don't want an iPad for their center console.
- supportengineer 3y agoThe Ford Mustang is going in that direction starting in 2024. It will look almost exactly like a Tesla product. By comparison the current 2023 model has a full complement of standard switches, gauges, and buttons, in addition to a few LCD screens.
- nebula8804 3y agoIf only it wasn't shaped like a freakin egg on wheels. As someone who is in the market for a new car, I would seriously consider this if it were like a real car I could feel good spending 26k on. (My last car was 6k used and it lasted me 10 years). This car is so tiny in real life not to mention that GM's current design philosophy makes their cars look like the toy that comes out of the bottom of a cereal box. You don't want to walk out of a dealership spending 26k only to feel like you bought something that doesn't truly make you happy. I could buy used but as with Tesla, who know what kind of repair nightmare these things will have post 100k miles. It would be less painful if the car was something I'd like to look at. Why couldn't they just make this a real Model 3 competitor by making it their entry level sedan. Something normal like the Chevy Cruze EV would be quite appealing to me at that price. Instead it seemed like when they launched this car, they wanted to keep playing that game of pretending that they care while shipping another compliance-like car. I wish Ford shipped a Focus EV. That would be great as well. I don't understand why these companies have such crummy products in their portfolio.
- WorldMaker 3y agoIronically both the Cruze and Focus have both been discontinued for several years now. Blame shareholder greed that neither GM or Ford are "allowed" to sell sedans in 2023, because some of the biggest shareholders seem happier leaving the sedan category entirely to Tesla and Imports right now. (ETA: The weird "hot hatchback" category that the Bolt fits into seems the closest GM feels comfortable to get away with to a traditional sedan anywhere in their model portfolio. It's a big part of why it is exciting to see the Bolt recontinued. Maybe that means they'll have the guts to start a new sedan if the Bolt sells well.)
- zardo 3y agoI think it's just a hatchback, the "hot" refers to it being a fast car.
- WorldMaker 3y agoYeah, that was definitely a subjective toss-in. It's an EV with quite a bit of torque, so I think it qualifies. I know owners that believe it qualifies. I haven't yet seen one in a rally, which I think is the true qualifier, but I don't follow rallies close enough outside of the fiction of the Forza Horizon series.
