Wasn't able to read too far due to the paywall, but it seems that the folks who predicted that they were discontinuing the Bolt to upgrade it to Ultium were correct. Don't know why they just didn't announce the upgrade back when they cancelled the old model.
- tapoxi 3y agoProbably wanted to bump sales of the new Equinox.
- CameronNemo 3y agoYep. Which should mean the new gen will charge faster than 50 kW, which makes it a lot more convenient for road trips.
- WorldMaker 3y agoSeems like the discontinuation notice had to happen for certain sorts of dumb shareholder reasons because of the factory retooling and the subsequent hole in model years. (The last model year of the Bolt was 2023. The next model year is expected to be the 2026 Bolt. Oh no, there's no 2024 or 2025 Bolts!~) Some current (large) American car company shareholders (coughdealerscough) have gotten weirdly OCD that every active car model needs to hit every car model year. (Which is dumb for a whole lot of historic reasons and contributes to a lot of unnecessary year over year design change bloat/churn to just give excuses to bump model year numbers.)
