Threads Isn’t Labeling Propaganda Accounts from Russia, China State Media
- sam345 3y agoNo paywall: https://archive.is/TDYLP https://archive.is/TDYLP "State-backed media accounts have hundreds of thousands of followers without the labels they are made to carry on Instagram and Facebook" ..and "posting propaganda such as a fake video purporting to show President Biden in a store perusing books on dementia." Great way to juice the volume. Or maybe just one of the rough edges a quick development hasn't addressed yet. Or maybe both. Move fast.
- DLA 3y agoMoving fast and not implementing labels (yet?) is akin to making a new gun model and selling them without a safety. They can message all they want about “trust and safety” but empirical evidence says otherwise. FB cares about one thing: money. Period.
- guraf 3y agoNot everybody agrees with you that Meta should be the arbiter of truth. Or that we need an arbiter at all. I'm perfectly happy with having no labels on my social media. Likening the situation to having no safety switch on guns is simply absurd and an appeal to emotion.
- milsorgen 3y agoSimply put, I don't want warning labels on my CDs nor do I want them on my social media.
