Yeah, it's creepy to make people just to enslave them (Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics are also the three laws of a perfect slave, so to speak.) And, yes, it's incredibly stupid to build slaves powerful enough to turn you out (Asimov has a few stories that touch on that, IIRC.)
