In unversity, I was bored one day and added this to another student's .bashrc
echo "sleep 1" >> ~/.bashrc
He used the Solaris SPARC machines to do his work, so everytime it logged in it opened 4 terminals or so (not sure why). By the time he asked the help desk for help, it was up to a 6 minute wait after logging in before he got the prompt.
