Chess.com: “We're experiencing a DDoS attack”
- raverbashing 3y agoAnd this is why we can't have nice things, because some a-hole wants to have fun breaking a site
- LinuxBender 3y agoI helped run some large gaming sites and one pattern common to them is DDoS when they have a chat or comment system. Players get each other frustrated, angry and spun up. They can't take it out on the other player directly or physically so they DDoS the site to prevent others from enjoying it and/or to share their frustration. An example of where this does not happen as much as GTA. Their platform makes it trivial to extensively dox other players so they can DDoS each others internet connections directly, boot them out of games, announce their home address to all the players and so much more. There are blogs and Youtube videos that go into much greater detail on this if anyone was interested.
