Lyft, the Largest Bikeshare Operator in North America, Wants Out of the Business
- cowsup 3y agoQuote from Lyft CEO's: > "[W]e haven't done the job we need to do to make sure that every time a person rides the bike, they get welcomed into the Lyft ecosystem, and frankly, welcome into the rideshare side of things. So, we'll do some thinking on how to do that better." If that's your goal, you haven't done nearly enough. I live in DC and have ridden Capital Bikeshare once just to try it out, and it wasn't until I saw the word "Lyft" on my credit card statement that I realized Lyft had any involvement. Even Capital Bikeshare's Wikipedia page doesn't make it obvious they're owned by Lyft. I also question how much overlap there is between people who are willing to rent a bike to ride around DC, and people who are willing to sit in a car with a stranger to fight city traffic. Especially when DC's metro can take you to both of the area airports, from anywhere in the city, for $6 or less.
