"Destroyed it's brand by renaming itself..."
Yeah, just like renaming the company "Meta" destroyed Facebook. If Twitter ends up being destroyed the change of names will be the least of the factors leading to that demise.
- rsynnott 3y agoThat was a rename of the parent; this is a rebrand of the consumer product; completely different. The Meta situation is a bit like when (and I promise I am not making these silly names up) Burger King's parent "Tricon Global" renamed itself to "Yum! Brands". Few consumers have ever heard of either Meta or Yum! Brands. The Twitter situation is more like if Burger King renamed itself 'Y' and replaced its iconic logo with a 'Y' on a scratched black background (see Twitter's awful new iOS icon). It is far more likely to be jarring/confusing/offputting to consumers than the demise of Tricon Global (just a terrible name, replaced with an even worse name) or the birth of Meta.
- krustyburger 3y agoYum! doesn’t own Burger King. They own Taco Bell, KFC and others.
- rsynnott 3y agoOops, yep, you're right.
