For added security? For ad canary? +tags have been normal way of handling email for multiple decades (probably longer, but I have used them for close to two decades now) Before recently switching to iCloud email hiding I tagged every service I used with unique tag. This makes it harder for my credentials to be used in mass scans and I have caught few services selling (or leaking) emails to spammers since the spammers have contacted me with `+companyname` tag.
