For Threads, the question was always going to be whether they're capturing existing audiences or bring in new ones. Withstanding the issue that 'social media needs to grow' for it to become successful, the splintering of user attention across multiple (less corporatised) platforms makes me hopeful success might be measured beyond user eyeballs and surface-level 'engagement'. I'd say, let's support communities over growth. Social media does not need to be massive.
