Wait, aren't dating apps selling a premium ai feature that aids the most desperate with writing? You type "aww howdy" and chatgpt expands it into a victorian-style greeting carefully tailored to the latest trends?

    Guilty. I tried to keep it more neutral - but they made the app more explicit in edits. I like to think if you cut out references to the app, then the article stands on its own - but my blog carries much less credibility than the newsweek header.

      In exactly the same sense in which a toothpaste ad stands on its own if you remove from it every reference to the brand.

This is soul-sucking, dehumanizing, and demeaning on a million levels. Really, the problem with this stuff and everything like it is that our current system is automating things purely on the basis of how easy they are to automate. It's just like that old joke about the guy looking for his keys under the streetlight because that's where the light is.
