Has Twitter discovered a better way of correcting online falsehoods?
- 3cats-in-a-coat 3y agoI've seen Community Notes used to "correct falsehoods" about Tesla which were in fact correct. I can't look up the tweet, so take my comment with a grain of salt if you will. But the best way to hide a lie is between two truths. If Community Notes is mostly good, then it has credibility, so when it's selectively abused, you don't question it. And that will be really, really dangerous during the 2024 election cycle, for one.
- MilnerRoute 3y agoIt's about the "Readers added context" announcements that get appended below tweets if enough Twitter users mark it helpful. I just spotted it for the first time today. The Financial Times says it pre-dates Musk's arrival at Twitter, but its use has now been "expanded."
- fullshark 3y agoIt’s been mostly great when I’ve seen it. Seems like it’s working well.
