Note that the Soviets invaded Manchuria on the same day as the Nagasaki bomb: 1.5m men, 27k artillery, 5.5k tanks.
Not sure how much this factored in the actual Japanese decision to surrender, but it certainly needs to be mentioned in any discussion of a non-nuclear endgame.
