All elon has done with this is poured petrol on the tire fire that is the attention economy; now there is financial incentive for creators to produce inflammatory content, and it is working.
This change firmly shifts twitter into a place more volatile than news website comment sections could ever hope to be. This is a terrible, awful thing to do.
There is nothing this man can do with his remaining years to convince me he is a good person.
- brucethemoose2 3y agoMaybe he has a Twitter addiction, and is trying to kick it in a plausibly deniable way... By torching Twitter.
- gsatic 3y agoHe is an example of runaway mindless ambition. Mindless cuz the ship doesn't seem to have anywhere to go. The total number of eyeballs available on the planet is fixed. So Consumption is capped. Production on the other hand is in runaway overdrive(thx to the low interest age), the tools are free, everyone is broadcasting for free, everyone has limited attention to give anything but unlimited capacity to receive it. When you add it all up there is such a big imbalance between Production and Consumption. So now platforms are increasing prices of all their "free" tools. Who is going to pay when there such a glut of content?
