Is the Cure to Male Loneliness Out on the Pickleball Court?
- ryzvonusef 3y ago> The particulars aren’t so important. What matters is that guys start clocking quality time together, preferably without wives or girlfriends along. > Boiled down: Women talk; men do stuff. While women can maintain ties through conversation-heavy engagements, the experts say, men are better served by side-by-side bonding. That is, they participate in activities together, during which community and camaraderie are established. On occasion, between rounds of bocce or even rounds at the sports bar, the men may bring up how much they hate their boss or the results of their latest stress test. Behold! Male bonding in action.

So why make reference to pickleball? Why not just say "The cure to Male Loneliness is to spend quality time together"... Controversial take - pickleball is just tennis for people who aren't athletic enough to play tennis...
- JumpinJack_Cash 3y agoBecause most people (men are people) live in cities, and cities are packed and so regardless of physical form tennis courts are scarce, and so are basketball courts etc. Running and lifting weights seems purposeless, so according to the author the happy medium is pickleball, in Europe and South America is increasingly becoming Padel.

- dudul 3y agoCan't read since it's paywalled, but I find this ironic. Male only spaces keep being dismantled to become more inclusive and now we're gonna blame men for not getting together in their own space to bound.
