Is AI/ML being used in anti-cheat software for video games yet?
Are there any known examples?
- smt88 3y agoGenerative AI/LLMs: I don't know. I'd guess these would be cost-prohibitive for large, fast-paced games with hundreds of thousands of players, unless they selectively applied them to suspected cheaters and/or professional players (for retroactive bans). Machine learning: Yes, for years. One example is Call of Duty[1]. 1. https://www.callofduty.com/it/blog/2021/10/ricochet-anti-cheat-initiative-for-call-of-duty https://www.callofduty.com/it/blog/2021/10/ricochet-anti-che...
- to-too-two 3y agoThanks for the link. I’m surprised their kernel level anti-cheat didn’t cause a stir like Riot’s did with Valorant.
- smt88 3y agoIt definitely made people angry, but eventually the anger flamed out as more and more game makers started using the same tactics.
