In the US, my HMO doc will do one only if I insist. Even my previous PPO doc was pretty relaxed about it. He said it was up to me if I wanted to do it, but that it wouldn't really be useful. Certainly there are people in the US that go for a physical every year, but many of us do not. In my wider circle of friends and family, very few of us bother.
