Until this thread, I didn't even realize that .me and .io were ccTLDs. (I should have realized with .me, because I've seen it long enough, but I didn't start noticing .io until after the TLD explosion). I wouldn't be surprised if many were in the same boat. Registrars should probably warn if buying a ccTLD.
