Proofs from the Book
- npalli 3y agoGreat book, it must be noted that wikipedia lists the first edition from 1998 but it is now in it's sixth edition (2018) https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-662-57265-8 https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-662-57265-8
- jbullock35 3y agoHow much of this book will I be able to grasp, given that my math education stopped with an undergrad course in real analysis?
- zeroonetwothree 3y agoPretty much all of it
- dhosek 3y agoI’m not entirely sure of that, and it will take some effort to follow some of the proofs, but it will be worthwhile. I think this would be a good book for a technically-oriented book club to discuss, taking on one proof a month.
- bscphil 3y ago> "The Book" in which God keeps the most elegant proof of each mathematical theorem > The proofs include: Six proofs of the infinitude of the primes ironic
- shadowiq 3y agoDon't they know they can just pick the maximal one?
- waldrews 3y agoMore relevant to this audience: Algorithms from The Book: https://www.amazon.com/Algorithms-BOOK-Kenneth-Lange/dp/1611976162 https://www.amazon.com/Algorithms-BOOK-Kenneth-Lange/dp/1611...
- billfruit 3y agoIs it written for a general audience, with sufficient explanations from an elementary standpoint, discussions on background, why a proof is brilliant, etc, or is it more like a collection of abstruse mathematics papers?
