I've been using Free File Fillable Forms (https://www.freefilefillableforms.com https://www.freefilefillableforms.com) for several years now and look forward to whatever the IRS comes up with.
- owenmarshall 3y agoSame here – if you like doing your taxes on paper, AND you post on this site, you'll love it & it'll save you some cash over Turbotax/friends. I will say it isn't the most user friendly application, as evidenced by the error I received this year by email: Issue : Business Rule X0000-005 - The XML data has failed schema validation. cvc-complex-type.2.4.a. Invalid content was found starting with element `QualifiedCareExpensesPaidAmt`. One of `{"http://www.irs.gov/efile":IdentityProtectionPIN, "http://www.irs.gov/efile":QualifyingPersonSSN, "http://www.irs.gov/efile":DiedLiteralCd}` is expected. The following information may help you determine the form at issue: Field/Xpath: /efile:Return[1]/efile:ReturnData[1]/efile:IRS2441[1]/efile:QualifyingPersonGrp[2]/efile:QualifiedCareExpensesPaidAmt[1] It did help me find the form & line at issue instantly, but I'm not sure a non-programmer would have as much luck.
