For the right definitions of "merit", yes. I'm not confident we've figured that part out yet.
- abirch 3y agoWe can't even define the purpose of college. E.g., is it only graduating and Bill Gates, Paul Allen, Steve Jobs, ..., Mark Zuckerberg are all failures? Meritocracy works best if you have something to measure against.
