In Praise of Phone Numbers
- keiferski 3y agoArticle is paywalled so I'm not sure if this idea is mentioned, but it is super interesting to me how a certain technology can be the locus of a lot of culture, but then evaporate entirely when that technology is replaced with something newer. A song like 867-5309 is a good example that simply doesn't have much emotional pull in a post-phone number world. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/867-5309/Jenny https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/867-5309/Jenny
