The co-founder thing is just a name which was given post-facto to identify two friends who were together in college and that spunoff a company. Some people have the privilege to build stuff with their friends. Some others don't have the same privilege, you can only play the hand you've been dealt, so hire someone to do what you need for the startup, and open a resturant/gym/club with your friend/s
