half my friends lost their jobs because of the not-a-lockdown. The fact that we could still buy FOOD doesn't mean we weren't locked down. What a terrible take.

Well guys, we weren't physically barred in our homes and starved so we weren't locked down. Brilliant.
- shapenamer 3y agoNo replies with the downvotes, as impressive as usual. Looking back at this thread it seems every post disagreeing with the ridiculous statement that there were no lockdowns has been downvoted. Amazing.

- VK538FY 3y agoI upvoted you because I agree with the essence of what you write. The problem is admittedly the enormous geographic variability of the measures that were adopted. None of us is quite sure if the debate is focusing on measures of Elbonia or rather those of Santa Banana.
- shapenamer 3y agoWell then lets apply the same standard to the statement that there were no lockdowns. Some countries like New Zealand wouldn't even let their own citizens fly home, and there were stories about people in China having their doors nailed shut by the police. You don't get to make a blanket statement that, "there were no lockdowns" and then downvote everyone that replies because they weren't specific enough.
- VK538FY 3y agoYes, if the guy writing that is in one of those countries with lockdowns. But if he's in say Switzerland, he's not exactly wrong. Listen I'm not going to defend intellectually dishonest people either but I'd invite him to clarify which country.
