I think the bandying about of the term “late-stage capitalism” by writers has given many the false impression that capitalism is ending and that such an end is an inevitable running of course. I think capitalism is here to stay for as long as there are life forms dependent on reproduction. Maybe eternity and the dissolution of society/community/family will mitigate the impulse to resource accumulation, but we haven’t reached that yet.
