Modern hardware... Also hitting shutdown on your windows PC does not shut it down, it effectively puts it into hibernation. The comment above is chasing the wind, just shutdown your PC if you want it off. If you dont then put it to sleep, modern hardware sleep state is effectively off from a power consumption point of view.
