Why choose Typescript over any of the other hundreds of languages that transpile to JavaScript?
- ng12 3y agoBecause the good part of TypeScript is that it works seamlessly with the JavaScript ecosystem. Transpiled languages add too much friction.
- lolinder 3y agoI've tried a few of those, and the bundle size is typically insane. The amount of code you have to ship just to get the semantics of your language and your standard library is nuts. There may be a few exceptions that were designed from the outset with JavaScript in mind, but then you're back to being at the mercy of JS quirks.
- w3news 3y agoWhy need another dialect if you can just use Javascript. I think most people don't really know Javascript, and what is possible. Most arguments to use Typescript are not good arguments, and Javascript can more than most people think. Typescript is more a combined box of tools, and a lot of things can be done without Typescript or another dialects.
