  nice =) Brooklyn resident here and while I don't garden, I do photograph birds in the community gardens near me during migration season. Love having them there - you can find a different set of species there sometimes, I think those that are less tolerant of humans, which are all over the major parks.

  NYC denizens, how is the wait time for getting a spot in your local garden? Here in SF I signed up for a plot in my local garden a year ago. At the current rate of turnover it'll take 3-5 years total before I get a plot. I was able to sign up for taking care of some of the garden's apple and pear trees right away, though.
