There seems to be trend toward ever increasing absurdity when it comes to interviewing for Software Engineers. In fact some of the recent HN posting about interview techniques are verging on being a parody of the Knights who say Ni from Monty Python and the Holy Grail ("We want you to cut down the largest tree in the forest...with a Herring !!"). As the post says find the Person who is the best fit for your team/company. Everything else can and will be learned on the job if you get the right candidate.
