How a Remote Australian Mine Became a Gender-Balanced Workplace
- QuarterReptile 3y agoWhether or not you agree with the authors' political aims, the article seems to explain a lot of the phenomenon: 1. Quotas that are continually pressed. 2. Spending to give the workplace some amenities that make it notnlike the typical male-dominated blue collar work. 3. Opening up entry-level jobs, which has the effect of probably being the relief for all women who would want to break into the sector (i.e. you can achieve 50% women without meaningfully changing the representation of women in the sector overall by being the only mine in the whole country which is presenting an attractive workplace to women.) It's a pretty good article.
