I love the concept and engineering behind Zed, but considering how software startups tend to fare, there's just no way I'm going to mentally invest in a closed source dev environment. Even if they succeed commercially, chances are some day Microsoft just buys the whole thing and shuts development down a week later. No thanks.

The way I see it if Zed fails I just go back to VSCode and I’m no worse off than before. The nice thing about Zed is that it’s batteries included so it really isn’t hard at all to pick up. I did in maybe 15 minutes tops, seriously.
