I've occasionally noticed that consumer electronics reviewers (even when they have similar preferences) are disconnected from my expectations for devices. Namely, they're much more attuned to short and medium-term trends, including fads that I end up entirely skipping by sheer accident. They'll sometimes say 'it's been a long time since I've seen a phone with(out) XYZ!', meanwhile every phone I've ever used has been that way. I don't think there's anything for it, since you can't make a living as a reviewer if you're not checking out new devices constantly. But it is weird sometimes.
