Here in the USA, flying is rather expensive. I am told it is largely due to insurance costs. I am curious, what are common rates to fly a Cessna 172 wet/dry around the world?

- lunaticlabs 3y agoI have a PPL in the US, and live in Germany. Essentially, the problem here is that there aren’t really any small airports or flight schools here in the same way, because their largely isn’t any recreational flying. There are gliders, and that’s about it. Even if I could rent here (I looked and it basically didn’t exist), my license is only good for US registered aircraft, so it would need to be converted into a EASA license. That process isn’t so worth pursuing unless I could afford my own aircraft, since recreational flying doesn’t exist.
