About GarageBand, there is a known problem with sound latency in android that prevents real time audio apps to be developed and it doesn't seem to be fixed in ICS.
This stops developers from writing musical apps that could compete with those available on iPhone or iPad.
iOS latency is around 6ms, in android devices it varies between 100ms and 400ms.
- Intermernet 15y agoYep, as a wannabe audio developer on Android, this is the bug that kills it. And they've been aware of it for a VERY long time (over 2.5 years). It's really the one factor of UI that they just don't get. What's the point in devoting so much time to getting smooth visuals and snappy response only to deem audio response to be unnecessary?

- gbaygon 15y agoYes, that's the bug. I have tried to use NDK with OpenSL and it doesn't get any better. I wonder why google doesn't fix this, hardware limitations?
