I love this personal-interests stuff because it's very relevant to my own career & studies.
Learning to fly & navigate in the air generally hints at a symbolic context representing similar work in the world of ideas. A space where freedom from the usual grind is obtained, and conceptual work can take root in the sense of a connection back to the universe/universal principles.
This would be someone who is also ready to commit to new structures of approaching the unknown.
Approaching though...this "unknown" many people know symbolically via the more literal term: "space".
The risky part of taking to the air is that it implies a tight focus on limits and envelopes. There are tight safety boundaries. Similar in comparison to boundaries in BJJ for example, where you can choke someone out...safely. If you respect the safety margins, this terrifying, primal envelope-edge can be leveraged to affect a control differential.
To me it would be interesting--not taking this stuff too seriously, but it would be interesting--if what also "took to the air" in the future was something, or some collection of things that we don't know about yet. It's possible that we see Zuckerberg translating his very identity across normal boundaries.
And after all, he's interested in _becoming_ a pilot, not buying a different airplane to fly...so there's a certain symbolic novelty to this too, which could amount to a very visible change...
