Twitter's Dying. Time to Drop the News Paywalls
- manzanarama 3y agoBundles seem like a potential solution here. Also I always imagined something like where I can load 20 dollars into an account and pay 10-20 cents for accessing an article. There could be a shared framework between many different news sites.
- rchaud 3y agoThe problem is that publishers specifically do not want to be bundled together, as it reduces their ability to set their own prices. Apple News+ does bundling, and it's pretty crap because it includes WSJ, but only some of their articles. Of course you have unlimited access to a bunch of news blogs, but that isn't worth the same as AAA news source.

- 3cats-in-a-coat 3y agoImagine if there was a separate sign-up with all our details and then a credit card, so you can subscribe to each show you want to watch. Not streaming network, but each show. And people wonder why news site subscription doesn't work.
- mensetmanusman 3y agoThere is an alternative history where news organizations realized the threat of the Internet and search. Then they would have all bound together as an Uber Monopoly to fight against loss of all revenue. This would have been great for allowing consumers to just sign up for one service to read all news.
