The Senate just lobbed a tactical nuke at NASA’s Mars Sample Return program
- accrual 3y agoThat's a huge bummer to me. I would love to see the sample return mission happen. We have samples from Mars today by way of meteorites but a true unvaporized sample from the surface would be immensely helpful for science. Does anyone know why this is so contentious? Does NASA not know what hardware and workforce will be required for the mission? My understanding is this has been in the works for many years, and the current rover (Percy) is already designed to support this mission.
- simonblack 3y agoI keep saying that NASA will never get back to the Moon again, for exactly this reason. Let's face it, the US no longer has any spare cash that can be laid out for non-financially-productive projects. Those days are gone forever.
